Selfie at The Grand Canyon | #WilleyMobileAdventures #RoadTrip2014

With the kids being 5 and 6, one of the stops we’re hoping they will remember, even if only through pictures is the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

The Willeys at The Grand Canyon

Honestly, I don’t like the picture of us, only because we look ragged from road tripping all day long, but its the only picture I have of us visiting this beautiful spot.

Hopi Point Grand Canyon

I must recommend, at least once in your lifetime, visit The Grand Canyon.  It’s absolutely breath taking to see. When planning your trip, go on line or stop into the Visitors Center, they have so many options for tours, fly overs, river trips and more.

Traveling with my monsters, I didn’t think they’d be too up for the idea of hiking, yes, my ballerina usually complains of walking for any length of time (crazy right?)

The Grand Canyon with Family

We decided to snap some amazing photos, check out the gift shop and head on to Mather Campground for the night to get set up and have dinner because we were starving.

Camping at The Grand Canyon

Dry camping is when you don’t have any electricity, running water or sewer to hook your RV too.  Mather Campground was our very first experience with dry camping in our new motorhome.  We flipped on our noisy generator to power the microwave to heat up carne asada, spanish rice and refried beans, hey, doesn’t everyone eat tacos while camping?  HAHA – told you I was OVER-PREPARED!

Cookout at The Grand Canyon

While I was cleaning up the dishes, The Hubster started scouting the campground and quickly came back ordering me to grab a camera.

Grand Canyon Deer

He had spotted a couple of deer walking around through the campground, and several families were following them around trying to get photos.

I am pleased to say, we made it through without any problems on our first night dry camping.  We didn’t run out of water, it wasn’t too hot and we were absolutely fine without electricity as we really enjoyed hanging out with the family, exploring the camp and going to bed early to be rested for the next leg of the trip.

  1. Looks like you had a great trip! I have been wanting to get a camper, but just don’t have anywhere to park it.

Isn’t the Grand Canyon AMAZING! Both my husband and I have gone before kids would love to take them with us.
