Do you have a daughter who loves to dance like I do? This weekend; May 2nd, Segerstrom Center is offering a wonderful event FREE Open House at the ABT Gillespie School at Segerstrom Center for The Arts from 10:00am – 5:00pm for students and prospective students of dance ages 3-14 and their parents.

ABT Gillespie Open House, Free Ballet Classes

The American Ballet Theater Gillespie School is led by Principal Alaine Haubert, an internationally acclaimed dance educator and coach and follows the ABT’s National Training Curriculum, a ballet program designed specifically for children ages 3 through 14 years of age. This unique ballet curriculum, divided by age, promotes discipline and creativity, encouraging students to reach their highest potential while building a safe and solid foundation in technique.

An exceptional location for dance, the Segerstrom Center features professional sprung floors and amenities. Each class features live accompaniment by one of the ABT Gillespie School’s accomplished pianists.

Scheduled events include:

  • Studio Tours: Guests are invited to tour the ABT Gillespie School facilities, studio and performance spaces, which have been used for rehearsals by the world’s leading ballet companies.
  • Open Classes: Prospective students will have the chance to take free classes taught by teachers certified in ABT’s highly respected national training curriculum. Classes will feature live accompaniment and parents are invited to observe. Class space is limited, please fill out this form.
  • Performances: Ballet exhibitions presented by young dancers from the ABT/Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis School in New York will be presented at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
  • Placement Classes: Students already registered for the fall semester will participate in placement classes to determine their level prior to when classes commence.  These classes are only for students aged 8 – 14 currently enrolled or interested in enrolling. To reserve a space in the placement class, please fill out this form.

Food Trucks and Activities on the Plaza and have lunch and enjoy dance-related educational activities on our plaza.
